Punta Pitt

Punta Pitt

Punta Pitt is a 1.4 km trail located in the extreme east of San Cristobal Island with an estimated time of two hours. The path includes a 90-meter hike through a beach that ascends to the top of volcanic tuff, with several subjective viewpoints along the way.

Punta Pitt is composed of a volcanic tuff substrate, with strong winds that lead to natural erosion.

Punta Pitt is the only place where you can see the three species of wolves and two species of frigate birds nesting in the same area. It is due to an abundance of food, eliminating the conflicts between these bird species. Blue-footed birds’ nest in the interior, red-legged birds’ nest in bushes and masked birds’ nest in the cliffs. Another added attraction is the presence of sea lions.
