The land iguanas and the flamingo lagoons are two of the highlights of this site. Wild dogs once almost eliminated iguanas, but the Galapagos National Park rejected them in 1990, and the reptiles seem to be returning.
The trail leads through the vegetation of the dry zone to a small hill where the iguanas live. The area is home to mockingbirds of Galápagos, finches of Darwin, varieties of endemic Opuntia and candelabra cactus, and cotton of Galápagos.
